7 things every contractor website needs to get more calls

October 20, 2026

Most of your customers will look you up on their phone before they call, even if a neighbor recommended you. They’ll compare you to two or three other companies in about a minute. Here’s what decides who gets the call.

1. A call button at the top of every page

People search on their phone, often while looking at the job. If they have to scroll or hunt for your number, a lot of them will call the next company instead. Put a tap-to-call button at the top of every page.

2. What you do and where, in five seconds

Your homepage should say what you do and which towns you serve in plain words, right at the top. “Land clearing and site prep in Crown Point, Valparaiso and the Region” beats “Quality you can trust.”

3. A page for each service

If you do driveways, drainage and grading, each one should have its own page. Google can’t show you for “drainage contractor near me” if the word drainage is buried in a list on one page.

4. Photos of your real work

Stock photos don’t build trust. Job photos do, especially before and after shots. Phone pictures are fine.

5. Reviews where people can see them

Show your Google reviews on your site and link to your Google profile. And ask every happy customer for a review. A simple text with a link works.

6. A quote form that works after hours

Plenty of people search at night. A short quote form that asks for the job location, a few details and a photo lets you wake up to leads instead of missed calls.

7. Fast loading

If your site takes more than a few seconds to load on a phone, people leave. You can test it free at PageSpeed Insights.
